I love what I do - I'm a mother to my 2 year-old baby girl named Gemma, wife to my amazing husband Scott, sister (youngest of 6) to my wonderful brothers and sisters, and daughter to my supportive and sweet mother and father (may he rest in peace). I am also a photographer in the Bay Area with passion for people and telling stories.
For 15 years I produced video games, focusing mainly on art, animation and story. Now I'm applying those artistic and story-telling skills to my photography and having so much fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my site. Drop me a comment and let me know what you think - I love hearing from folks! :)
Katie and Kyle are so sweet, so fun and so great together. They met 2 years ago while they were both in seminary in Kansas City. Kyle described it something like this…It had just started raining and Katie wasn’t wearing any shoes – she likes to run barefoot in the rain. Katie was her bubbly self and Kyle was a little shy. But in between classes, they found out they had so many things in common, similar musical tastes, their love of books, nature and God. They hit it off and they’ve been together since. Now they are finishing their studies at Berkeley University and looking forward to getting married this summer.

Their love of nature and walking took us to Berkeley’s Rose Garden where they often enjoy the scenery and read together. We had so much fun exploring the space and having them just be them. Below are some of my favorites from our afternoon together.
They brought two of the many books they love to read. Katie’s was ‘How Poets see the World’ and Kyle’s was ‘Being and Time’ – they were so cute, they couldn’t stop laughing.
I love how sweet and intimate this shot is.
Sweet light for one of the sweetest couples I have ever met.
Katie & Kyle, thank you for spending the afternoon with me and sharing your love and affection for each other with me. I really enjoyed getting to know you and am excited for your new lives together. Enjoy!
Delia - I could literally feel the warmth and sweetness about this couple. I SO want a session with you!
Magda Escobar - I don't know how you did it. You managed to pack so much detail about this couple that make the pics so personal and meaningful to someone who doesn't even know them: the books, the height difference, etc. Love these.
Matthias Giezendanner - This is a great little shoot, really. You do a superb job with post production to emphasize the warmness and richness of this relationship. Now, I'm off to shoot an engagement session here today myself. cheers!
My niece Katharina turned 8 last month. I had the pleasure of taking her birthday portraits during the Thanksgiving break while visiting my family in LA. She is sweet, smart, athletic, sensitive, funny, artistic and just wonderful. Can you tell I’m a proud tia? She picked out her own outfits and her and her sisters did her hair & make-up. It was so wonderful to do these photos and also practice my off-camera lighting with studio lights. Thank you brother G for setting up your portable studio! Feliz Cumpleanos, Katharina! I love you very much!
Here’s a little ‘behind the curtain’ shot where you could see a little bit of our setup.
We listened and danced to Michael Jackson during the shoot and we just had to get her with a hat in his honor.
All the Smith girls have amazing hair and I loved getting this series of pictures with her awesome natural hair (that’s _never_ been cut!):
I made up a silly ‘knock-knock’ joke (that didn’t even make sense) and she cracked up. She’s so funny.
Melissa & Fernando are such an amazing couple and I feel very honored to have spent the day celebrating their love and new life together with all of their friends & family. Enjoy their slideshow!

Melissa and Fernando were married in September in Berkeley at the GAIA Arts Center and I had the pleasure of capturing their amazing wedding. The day was filled with so much joy and laughter and dancing. It was a fantastic time for all. Below are a few of my favorites from the day.

Melissa was such a gorgeous and glamorous bride:
They have an amazing group of fun friends that kept us all laughing through the whole event:
Ok, I posted this one in their ‘sneak peak’ post but I love it so much I want to post it again! 🙂
We had such a great time dancing the whole night. I love how elated Melissa looks here:
We took a little break from the reception and did a night-time shoot:
Fernando had changed into his father’s white wedding suit and it took the party to a whole new level. Here they are at the end of the night…
David Redding - Nice work! oh and I love that dress!
rosaura - Thanks so much for the comments guys! :)
Shannon, I used off camera lighting for that one, just my flash in my left hand held up as high as i could. pocket wizards and a 580exll. Hope that helps.
shannon hayward - Wow! What a gorgeous couple! Fantastic pics! What did you use to light the dance? The lighting is great in that pic!
I met Elizabeth and Eric in the summer when they took me up on my engagement session giveaway. I never got a chance to upload their photos. So in honor of their marriage this weekend, here are some of my favorites of this adorable, rock-climbing, outdoorsy, super smart (he’s a Berkeley professor and she has a Ph.D & does environmental research) and awesome couple. They were so fun to work with and kept laughing through the whole session.

We started out in their backyard:
Then we just had to head up to Indian Rock to honor their rock-climbing and love of the outdoors and environment.
Elizabeth and Eric, thank you for sharing the afternoon with me and super congrats on the wedding! 🙂
Margo and Will are such a fun and amazing couple. They go so well together, laughing and joking around all the time, it was totally contagious. Inbetween all the laughter they were also really great at bringing on the sexy. So much fun to shoot!

We shot at Santa Clara University where it all started. Somehow we were able to get into the exact room where they took their fateful class together. They even sat in the same places and reenacted some of their in-class flirting. It was too awesome. We had a great time, below are some of my favorites.
We originally wanted to shoot at Santa Row but dropped the idea when we found out we had to pay $150 for a permit. What?! We did go there at night though and managed to sneak some shots in. Yes, we are sneaky! Ha!
Margo and Will, thank you so much for letting me in on the fun of capturing your love, friendship and laughter. Your wedding will be fantastic and I can’t wait for the aftershoot!
rosaura - Thank you guys so much for your comments. I so do appreciate them.
Amanda, I love the words you choose, 'love, joy and romance' - just want we were going for. :)
Julie, I love all the pictures but that last picture is something else. We walked _forever_ trying to find that place. Margo was such a great sport walking in those gorgeous heels.
Marisa, you always make me smile with your comments.
Margo, you hot mama! Can't wait for the aftershoot! Total hotness alert! :)
amanda - Wow Rosaura...I'm blown away. You are such a talented photographer. Such a lovely couple and you really captured the essence of love, joy and romance!!!
rosaura - Hi there Yesenia, we were in San Jose so no Filmore. :)
Margo - Thank you so much Rosie! We absolutely love them all! It was so hard to pick. You were so easy to work with, helped us relax and I feel really captured "US." Thanks for your time and your talent!I'm very much looking forward to the aftershoot!
